An introduction to Magic Angle Twisted Bilayer Graphene

Twisted Bilayer Graphene has become a great platform to investigate strongly-correlated electronic behaviour since different phases such as correlated insulator phase or the unconventional superconductivity phase have been observed by simply changing the number of carriers in the system. In this talk we introduce theoretically Twisted Bilayer Graphene and explore its electronic properties as a function of the twisting angle. Then we focus on the so-called ‘magic angle’ where the flat bands emerge and the strong correlations between carriers happen. To finally address the exotic electronic compressibility behaviour arising from these strong interactions and to inspect how the flat bands are populated upon doping the system.
