Photons typically interact with their environment only through emission and absorption. In this talk, I will describe a protocol in which microwave photons in superconducting resonators are coupled to an engineered reservoir; instead of removing particles from the system, this reservoir creates non-reciprocal transport between the system’s modes, leading to highly non-trivial dynamics. I will discuss possible applications of this protocol for many-body state preparations and metrology.
