Postdoctoral / engineer positions to develop quantum inspired technologies

As part of a Proof of Concept project recently awarded to our group, QUINFOG is offering two positions to develop new simulation technologies based on quantum inspired algorithms, such as tensor networks. The two positions are:

  • Postdoctoral researcher working on the design and prototyping of algorithms (2 year contract). Ideally, the candidate should be a physicist or mathematician with a background on tensor networks, but we may also consider candiates with a numerical analysis education.
  • Software engineer (1 year contract) working on the development of a C++ library for the above mentioned algorithms. Experience in C++ and optionally Python language is desired.

The project is an ambitious spin-off from our work on quantum inspired numerical analysis. It aims to consolidate existing algorithms for solving PDE’s with tensor networks, as well as addressing new questions, such as efficient encoding of multivariate functions in tensor networks, efficient alternatives to Monte Carlo integration, simulation of multivariate probability distributions, etc. This project is developed in deep collaboration with CSIC’s startup Inspiration-Q, opening opportunities to transition into the company, depending on performance and mutual interest.

QUINFOG is located at the central Madrid campus of CSIC, the Spanish National Research Council. The faculty are Juanjo García-Ripoll, Alejandro González Tudela, Diego Porras, Luca Tagliacozzo and Tomas Ramos. Their joint expertise covers a wide range of topics in the realm  of quantum technologies ranging from fundamental physics, quantum optics and simulation, many-body systems, and quantum and quantum-inspired algorithms. The group also hosts several post-docs and PhD students that, together with our many national and international collaborators, provide us a lively and stimulating research environment.

Expressions of interest, including a CV, the contact details of two references and a motivation letter (specifying the topic where they would like to work) should be addressed to: quinfog@iff.csic.es.

Please don’t hesitate to contact any of the faculty members leading this project (Juan José García Ripoll and Diego Porras) if you would like to discuss the topic and would like to have further information about our group.
