We are pleased to announce that two pre-doctoral positions are offered in our group QUINFOG at IFF-CSIC in Madrid, to carry out theoretical research in the field of algorithms for quantum computing, quantum machine learning, as well as in the simulation of quantum computers with tensor networks.
This project is funded by Quantum Spain, an initiative that aims to promote and finance a competitive and complete quantum computing infrastructure in Spain.
We are seeking candidates with a Degree in Physics and, ideally, a Master with some content in quantum technologies, quantum optics and/or quantum computing. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in quantum physics theory, as well as some knowledge of, or the willingness to learn, numerical methods in Python.
The PhD students will join QUINFOG, https://quinfog.hbar.es/, a vibrant and very active research group located in CSIC central campus in Serrano. The group hosts four staff members and several postdocs and PhD students, working in different theoretical aspects of quantum technologies, including quantum computing, design of quantum hardware, quantum nano-photonics, quantum-inspired algorithms and numerical methods for complex quantum systems.
We offer two 2-year contracts with a gross salary of 22,000 Euro per year. The positions are ideally suited as bridge contracts for PhD students, with opportunities to transition to further contracts, either through personal grants or funding from our group.
If you want to apply for this position, please, send a short CV, academic record (grades), as well as a brief motivation letter to quinfog@iff.csic.es. If you want to get more information on the project topics, do not hesitate to contact any of the senior researchers involved in this project (diego.porras@csic.es, luca.tagliacozzo@iff.csic.es, juanjose.garcia.ripoll@csic.es).
